How Do I Seek God with All My Heart?

Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV) You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. How do I seek Him with all my heart? I have some good news today. You have already begun, if you have been meditating on His Word or even trying to meditate. Any effort in learning and understanding God's Word is meditating. So the good news is: you have begun to seek Him with all your heart through your meditation efforts. Meditation, however, is only one aspect of seeking God with all your heart. God wants to take us to a deeper place and teach us more on seeking Him with all our heart. So hang on, we are moving ahead to a new territory. A second aspect of seeking Him with all your heart is receiving his divine revelation for you. Does that sound over the top for you? Well it is not. Revelation simply means to reveal or uncover- in the Old Testament Hebrew translation. When God gives you revelation, He is simply revealing something to you. He is making known, uncovering something to you. Just as when you have a conversation with a friend who tells you something about themselves. That friend is uncovering something or making known to you, thus revealing to you. God wants to reveal things to you and make things known to you, no different than a friend wants to share. So don't let the word "revelation" scare you away or seem too spiritual for you. God wants to reveal His truth and knowledge to those of us with a child-like devotion and trust in Him. In Matthew 11:25 Jesus praises God for revealing things to those like little children, with child like faith. Children are humbly open to the truth, but the "wise and learned" are those who lean on their own knowledge. Divine revelation is revelation from God. Divine, in this sense, is an adjective to describe revelation from God, opposed to someone else. Divine revelation is when God, and only God, uncovers something to you, makes it known, reveals it or you could say shares it with you. When we seek God with all our heart, we are preparing for his divine revelation. Meditating prepares us. However, meditation without pause and listening will never enable us to hear our divine revelation. To seek God with all our heart includes a significant amount of listening for that which God wants to make known to us. God wants us to start listening for his divine revelation. I know this is The Busy Woman's Bible Study, but it can be done. It is called a "pause." We are now ready to learn a new very exciting part of meditation and hearing from God. Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. Meditate on His Word to seek Him with all your heart. Listen for Him to seek Him with all your heart. We aren't just listening for God in order to seek Him. We need to listen for his divine revelation. Do you want to hear God's voice to say "Hi! How is it going?" No. We want divine revelation. We could enjoy God speaking to us casually, no doubt. But what we truly seek is God answering life's decisions and real issues. That is why we need to seek His voice for divine revelation. Casual conversation with God could be uplifting, but not necessarily life changing. Divine revelation, God revealing something to us, is life changing. When we listen, listen for divine revelation. Ask Him for it. Don't think that He does not want to give it to you. Remember Matthew 11:25 tells us that Jesus praised His Father, Lord of heaven and earth because God had revealed things to those as little children, those with open, humble hearts. Then Jesus said, "Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure." It was God's good pleasure to reveal these things to those with child like faith, open and humble. It was God's good pleasure to reveal, to give revelation. Mediate. Pray that God will reveal his divine revelation to you. Then pause and listen to receive. It is difficult to receive your divine revelation if you are not earnestly listening for it. How do you listen? Pause. Pause after meditating on your verse to hear from Him. Busy women you simply need to pause. Practice it if needed. Read your verse and pause in silence, seriously listening for you Father God. I don't know if you will be certain to hear Him or not. God is the maker of that decision. However I do know that He is telling us to "Be still and know that He is God." See Psalm 46:10 (King James Version) "Be still, and know that I am God." He does want to give us divine revelation in order to help us grow closer to Him and walk in faith. Pause. Throughout your day pray or meditate, and then pause to listen. You will be surprised how peaceful it feels whether you hear your divine revelation or not. Take a pause, breathe a little slower. You will find yourself in the presence of God in this pause. Will you hear Him? I don't know. I think you will hear Him sometime soon or even immediately. Again that is God's choice and timing.

I do know that if you are praying and meditating, and pause with every effort to hear from Him, you are in His presence. Hebrews 13:4 NIV says: God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." God said, "I will never leave you." You are praying and meditating on His words and you pause with every intention and effort to listen for Him. There is no way to deny that you are in His presence. God said, "Never will I leave you." Honey, busy woman, if you are in the midst of seeking Him through prayer and meditation, requesting to hear his divine revelation, there is NO way, no possible way, that you are not in His presence. Take peace and rest in knowing that you are in the presence of the Almighty God.

MEDITATION THIS WEEK:

Meditate on one word at a time this week. Meditate on one word in the first half of your day and the second word in the last half of your day. Two words a day and three on the last day will cover your week. You are going to be amazed at the power in this type of concentration on just one word.

Example:

You will:

you - Who is you? Is God talking to me? Am I the you?

will - Will means it is actually going to happen. Is God telling me to expect this verse to come to past? Will is my future! Wow!

After you meditate briefly on the one word, pause and listen. You don't have to pause long if you are busy, but pause. I don't care if it is for 2 minutes, please pause so you can reap the great benefits of God's revelation for you!
