Conversations with God

Week 6

Truly: “Hi God. It’s me again - saying I’m sorry. I am afraid I have made another mistake. Please forgive me”

Truly: “What is wrong with me? Can’t I go for just a little while without being such a human missing the mark?”

(Notice the lack of listening in this pathetic little rant. Lol.)

Truly: “Forgive me. Change me. Help me. I want to make you proud.”

Truly: “I really need help. I know you forgive me. I know this. But I still feel bad. I don’t like coming to you so often with yet another insufficiency.”

(You see how this is going. There is a lot of me in this chat when it comes to a need for forgiveness.)

When I finally pause.

God: “Yes, I know what you did. You are always forgiven.”

God: “I know how you are feeling.”

God: “Truly, your actions may not be perfect and will continue to disappoint you. But, your heart ALWAYS remains the same.”

God: “Your heart is what I see.”

God: “Your beautiful, untouchable heart is what I always see. It overpowers everything else. So take some time observing it, your heart. Remember your actions, oh so human, have not changed that heart I see so clearly.”

- In the midst of looking at my imperfect behavior, I found relief to know my heart had remained the same. I pray that this particular conversation will console others seeking forgiveness, giving them permission to behold their hearts in the “forgive me God” meet.

Sharing these conversations with God is a humble act. I feel exposed and vulnerable at times putting them to paper and then posting publicly. However at the same time, I feel this very open format has an audience intended by God.

“The LORD doesn't see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." 1 Samuel 16:7
