Meditation is Easy ~ Week 4

Hear His Voice while You Meditate

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,

"plans to prosper you and not to harm you." Can you hear his voice when you look at Jeremiah 29:11? Do you read those words and hear God speaking to you? I challenge you today to read this verse and listen closely for God's voice. Maybe I have just meditated on it often enough that I hear his voice as I read it now. When I see "For I know," I begin to hear the sound of his voice for me. I want to take you to a deeper place of meditation today. This may require a small amount of time where you can be alone with God. Maybe find a few minutes to sit in your car or outside in the yard alone with God. Try to find just a few minutes, and go be alone with God to experience a truly blessed and extraordinary phenomenon, hearing his voice. Take your verse with you. Write it down or take your Bible. This is the beginning of our journey to learning about the spirit that resides inside us. If you are born again through Jesus Christ, you have God's Spirit inside you. You are a spiritual being as well as a physical being. Take Jeremiah 29:11 and as you read it ever so slowly, very intently listen for his voice. Put your attention firmly on hearing his voice. If you need to, feel free to imagine the sound of his voice in this scripture. This may be foreign to you, but I strongly encourage you to give it a try. The rewards far exceed any uncomfortable feelings or doubts of the process. Your Father, who know the plans that He has for you, wants you to hear his voice. He knows that you are meditating on his Word. He knows that you seek him. He knows what you think about when you hear this verse. And He wants you to hear his voice. Know that He is there with you as you read the verse and listen for his voice. You have set aside special time for this. He knows that. You are making every effort to meditate on his words right now and to be with him. He is there with you as you seek his voice. Let no other thoughts enter your mind. Do this by simply concentrating only on the words of Jeremiah 29:11. Look at the words over and over again. Linger on one statement at a time and let God reveal his voice. Doubt? Let go of all doubt or disbelief right now so that your Father can reveal his voice. It may be quick or faint. It could be uncertain at first, stay in your spiritual side. Remember that when you accepted Jesus, the Spirit of God - the Holy Spirit - came inside of you. If your mind can not let you go to a place like this, if your mind is covered in doubt and disbelief - let your spirit (that God gave you) be open to it. Of course Satan will try to cause distrust in this endeavor, especially if you have never heard his voice. We don't care about those doubts. God's Word is our source. Jesus says "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27) We became his sheep when we chose Jesus. Say "I don't care about my doubts, my spirit is open and listening." So take a few minutes alone with God today and give him the opportunity to reveal his voice to you. Give him the opportunity by finding a place to be alone with him, listening and letting your spirit hear. Is this sounding a little too zany for you? If you are never willing to try, you may never be able to hear. Hearing God's voice is the most amazing, intimate of moments. It is a "still small voice." (1 Kings 19:12) It is gentle and full of love. I want you to experience this so very much because you deserve it. You seek God so honestly. He adores your efforts. He longs to be with you. Take this opportunity today to hear his voice. Use our scripture to keep yourself focused and listen intently. You will hear what God wants you to hear and when He wants you to hear. But with no effort at all, you may never get to hear your Shepherd's voice. Enjoy your time alone with God. I sincerely hope you hear his voice today. But if it does not seem to be there yet, it does not mean He is not there. Enjoy knowing that you spent time alone with God, not just meditating on his Word but also being with him. Find joy in knowing that you sat next to your Heavenly Father, just the two of you. Psalm 46:10 says, "Be still, and know that I am God." Be fulfilled in your obedience to that scripture. You were still and knew that God was with you. Did you feel anything? Did you hear anything? Does it matter every time? You sat alone with your Father God. Did you only imagine the sound of his voice? Do you know how adoring that is to God? That is true worship to sit and imagine the sound of his voice. This may not have been the day or it may have, but the point remains that you adored your Father God. You showed him your devotion to him and his Word, and you stepped out in faith. He will honor these things. If not today, a day will come to hear his voice as long as you put in your sincere effort and love for Him.

MEDITATION THIS WEEK:

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD,

"plans to prosper you and not to harm you."

Focus on plans to prosper you and not to harm you this week! I hope this lesson has not pushed anyone beyond their comfort level. But who could not want to hear their Father's voice? God put these words on paper for you! I follow my Father's lead and voice. Please know that I write only with my Father's guidance in mind. I love you all with the most honest love I know, the love of my Father flowing through me. May God bless you with his Shepherd's voice to his sheep.
