Here is all the proof you need!
Have you ever had a fleeting thought questioning if the Bible is true or if God is real? Then you are shocked that you even considered it, if even briefly. It happens to me rarely, but it happens. Then I feel ashamed and apologize to my Creator. However, my Creator responds with love and understanding instead of disapproval.
The most recent time (not long ago) these thoughts arose, God drew me to a fascinating story in His Word. It involves eyewitnesses to the existence of heaven, the inhabitants of heaven, and proof that the Bible is true. As I read it and visualized the events of the story, I was enthralled with its truth.
Let me share the proof I saw for myself. It started when I was presented with some words from Peter, a disciple of Jesus and later a great voice of the Gospel. Peter and his brother Andrew were the first of ordinary people called by Jesus to be his disciples; a part of his life and ministry. I say ordinary because they were not Jewish leaders or teachers. They were fishermen.
Peter was with Jesus from the beginning and saw his abounding miracles, listened to his wise teaching, traveled with him, ate with him and had personal conversations with him. After Jesus was resurrected and then later taken up to heaven (ascended), Peter began spreading the good news of Jesus the Savior, who he knew personally. This began just after the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit allowing them to preach and perform miracles.
Toward the end of his life, Peter wrote his final letter in the book of 2 Peter. His main concern was speaking to the people in a way that they will remember the truth after he leaves earth.
2 Peter 1:12-15 NIV
So I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body, because I know that I will soon put it aside, as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me. And I will make every effort to see that after my departure you will always be able to remember these things.
Now here it comes, a final declaration from a physical eyewitness of Jesus:
2 Peter 1:16-18 NIV
For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.” We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain.
Peter refers to what is known as the Transfiguration found in the books of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.
Matthew 17: 1-6 NIV
After six days Jesus took with him Peter, James and John the brother of James, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus.
Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here. If you wish, I will put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!”
When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown to the ground, terrified. But Jesus came and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” When they looked up, they saw no one except Jesus.
Peter, James and John (once fishermen before disciples) eyewitness:
Jesus transformed into divine glory with face shone like the sun and his clothes as white as light. Proof Jesus is from heaven and is now in heaven.
They saw and heard them talking to Jesus. Two inhabitants of heaven. Moses and Elijah in their glorious splendor. Proof there is a heaven.
They heard the actual voice of God declare that Jesus is His Son whom He loved and was well pleased. God spoke directly to Peter, James and John telling them to listen to Jesus. Proof God exists.
They saw two great prophets from history written about in the Bible. Proof the Bible is true.
I hope and pray that this account of an actual event will grab your heart and not let go, carrying you to never doubt that the Bible is true and God is real. It got me!
Maybe one day God will bring an opportunity for us to share this testimony from Peter, James and John to bring someone to know Jesus and accept Him as Savior.
